Shree Maa Umiya 18th century Silver Jubilee Festival, Unjha, Gujarat, India

This celebration will not only give a huge opportunity to meet leaders across various industries but will also allow us to sensitize our own culture and respect others’. Also, the tremendous flow of knowledge will lead to a learning experience and ideas for trade.

All this will be made possible with various cultural programs, Industrial and Commercial Exhibition, Showcasing of various Government Projects and welfare schemes and participation of Entrepreneurs of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, NRIs, Students, Youth and leaders across domes such as Engineering, Real Estate, Textile, Pharmaceuticals, Education to name a few.

  4. I visited the Education Seminar Hall at Unjha yesterday and met Tejal Laul who is the Director of Kampus Landing. Due to a heavy rush of visitors, she was not able to give sufficient time to me. I took the literature "Why study in America" from her. 'm impressed the way Kampus Landing has explained in detail. I plan to visit Kampus Landing office in Ahmedabad next week.

  11. The education dome at Umiya Mataji festival has been drawing huge audience. Thanks to the organisers who took pain to visit all North Gujarat schools and colleges and took support of the heads of the institutions. Last three days have been quite hectic for me as I met thousands of students and parents. Today, 1st December 2009 our seminar starts 2:30 pm and we expect a full house. Mr. Rick Groleau, Director of International Admissions at Southern New Hampshire University will join us at 4:30 pm for a presentation.

  12. Ashit Pandya's (Branch Director-Vadodara Kampus Landing) seminar on Business Ethics was one of the best seminars in the Industrial hall. During most of the other seminars most of the seats lied vacant but in Ashit's seminar the organisers had to bring chairs from the adjacent halls as the audience overflowed.

  15. It's a bit scary but true that Unjha fair visitors may be at H1N1 risk:

A 27-year-old youth, Govind Deva Patel (Rawal), who died of swine flu at Civil Hospital on December 5 may have exposed a large number of people to the virus that has claimed 48 lives in Gujarat. According to Govind’s family members, he attended the Umiya Mata Mahotsav in Unjha just six days before his death.

The more alarming thing is that Govind had developed mild symptoms of the influeza at least a week before leaving for Unjha. The emergence of these facts has rattled health officials as more than 50 lakh devotees of goddess Umiya visited the festival between November 28 and December 2.

Govind, who was a native of Gadh village in Palanpur district, left his home for the festival on November 29. A few days before that, he was treated for cold and fever by Dr L C Patel in Gadh village, which is 145 km from Ahmedabad.

When the 27-year-old youth was returning home from the mahotsav the next day, he again developed severe fever and cold. He was then given medical care at a clinic run by Dr Mayank Shah in Palanpur. When Govind’s condition worsened, Shah suspected that he might be suffering from swine flu.

The doctor advised Govind’s family members to take him to Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad. On December 4, the youth was admitted to the hospital and treated as a suspected H1N1 case. The next day, results confirmed that he was suffering from the disease. However, it was curtains for the 27-year-old by then.

Govind’s death has sparked off an H1N1 scare at Gadh, which is home to 16,000 people. Schools have been shut down, and health officials have urged residents to stay indoors. Govind’s family members, too, have been asked to remain in home isolation. “Schools in our village will remain closed for at least two days,” the sarpanch of the village, Khoda Patel, said. “Health officials are trying to identify and locate all those people who came in Govind’s contact.”
