India’s Perspective to Foreign Education

Indians are found in every corner of the world, be it students, workers or high profile intellectuals, among them specifically the student category of abroad goers is endlessly increasing. There is an annual growth of 10-12%. (Economic times)

There are several push factors behind the exodus of Indian students to foreign countries. The international value of foreign degree, presumed high quality of the degree, scholarships availability, possibility of good saving after expenditure and high employability after the degree makes Indian students to choose foreign countries for studies.

Participating in a study abroad program is more than an academic adventure; it’s an experience that can have a lasting, positive influence upon students’ future career aspirations and life in general. Millions of students from INDIA are enrolled in foreign education institutions around the world. Nearly $10 billion is spent annually by Indian students to study abroad.

Almost as important as the academic advantages of an international education are the chances it offers to experience life abroad. Today at present there is no better environment for Indian students to take hold of their future...and be the best they can be. An education in the UK or USA or Canada has always placed great importance on the ability of students to work independently and to develop their own thinking.

Students emerge from an international education not only with a thorough understanding of their subject but also with analytical abilities and problem-solving skills that are much prized by employers in later life.

Recognizing the impact of globalization in all spheres, many colleges and universities abroad intends to develop international linkages. Without doubt, having relationships with institutions of higher education in other parts of the world benefits all of the parties involved.

These partnerships results in a number of activities, including faculty exchanges, student exchanges, curriculum sharing, cross-cultural research, joint service projects, twinning programs, volunteer programs and articulation agreements to enhance the competency of the student going abroad for studies.

International tie ups not only have a positive consequence on all stake holders but also largely on students and recruiters. These tie ups also gives a affirmative figure of the institute to the recruiters as the institute offering courses relevant to today’s context and training students to work in an atmosphere which grooms up the students by giving them exposure internationally . This would also increase number of applications apart from benefitting the students largely.

Many colleges and universities in India such as SMD MYSORE, IIM BANGALORE, etc... Have such tie ups internationally for improving the quality of the students they provide to the corporate.

So there is an immense need for Indian institute and colleges should join hands with foreign institutes to make students more competitive and intellectually sound.
