Top 25 European universities for Asian students

Germany has been named the most supportive country for overseas students, according to a recent international league table. The British Council’s Global Gauge survey placed the UK in the third spot, reflecting the changes in attitudes mounting due to increased fee hikes and proposed visa restrictions that will affect international students in the country.
Home Secretary Theresa May’s controversial plans aim to reduce net immigration and limit UK visas for international students in order to cut immigration from 215,000 to 100,000 by 2015. Such plans in action would hurt the UK economy substantially, with a blow of nearly £5bn-a-year that is driven by international students alone. Income from students outside of the UK and Europe has doubled over the last decade, amounting to 10 percent of UK universities’ total funding. Compounded by the recent fee increases proposed by the coalition government, international students in the UK would not only have to pay more, but would have an even slimmer chance to be allowed entry to be educated in the UK.
It is no wonder then that the Europe is proving to be a tempting alternative for international students looking to study abroad in globally recognised institutions. Higher education is countries such as Sweden, Germany, France and Denmark are fast becoming the answer as more international students sign up for degrees in Europe. And with the recent figures from UNESCO’s Institute for Statistics noting a sharp increase in international students across the world, making particular note of Asian countries such as China, India and South Korea contributing vastly to the income of the academic market in the West, it is clear that Asian students are hungry for an education abroad and are looking to make the best choices for an experience, not just a degree.
