Three Albertans face charges in foreign worker scam

Three people from Alberta are facing charges in an alleged million-dollar foreign worker scam.
Calgary RCMP believe three employers at Kihew Energy Services  brought in 60 foreign workers from Poland and Ukraine in 2005 to work as welders.
The workers were brought in under a student visa, but were soon put on the job.
It's alleged that the foreign workers were told by Kihew that they could legally work in Canada and after six months would be able to bring their families to reside with them in Canada.
Police say the workers had to sign a contract to work in Canada, which stated that if the contract was breached, it would result in a fine of $25,000 and/or deportation from Canada.
The director of Kihew Energy Services, 43-year-old John Lipinski of St. Paul, Alberta, his wife, Angela Lipinski, and another director of Kihew Energy Services, 38-year-old Calvin Steinhauer, have been charged.
They are expected to make a court appearance on July 25th.
